About Cherokee County Tree Co.
We're a Jacksonville, TX tree crew, started in 2016 by Wade Tolliver with one bucket truck and a chipper. Wade grew up in Rusk and spent eight seasons on a utility line-clearance crew across Cherokee and Smith counties before going out on his own, and that background shapes how we work: a tree comes down in pieces, the rigging is set before the saw starts, and nobody guesses about what's on the other side of the drop. We walk every property in person, tell you plainly whether the tree needs to come down or can stay, and give you a written price before any work is scheduled.
The Piney Woods are their own kind of tree country. Loblolly and shortleaf pine grow tall and fast on the sandy loam here, and when the clay underneath gets saturated in a wet spring, a tall pine with a shallow root plate can go over in a wind that wouldn't bother a hardwood. Post oak, red oak, sweetgum, and hickory carry their own problems: deadwood, weak crotches, and limbs that load up when an ice storm comes through every few winters. Add the southern pine beetle, which can kill a pine in a single season, and you have the job list we see every week from Lake Jacksonville up to the Tyler side of the county. We know these trees because we've spent years working under them.
