Chandler, Texas, is a city of about 3,300 people in the northeast corner of Henderson County, on State Highway 31 at the north end of Lake Palestine. The town sits on the high ground between the lake's two arms, Kickapoo Creek on the west and the Neches River on the east, and it is about twenty-seven miles from our shop in Jacksonville, the northwestern edge of where we work. Brownsboro ISD serves Chandler. The town has grown steadily as a lake community, and its tree work follows the water: pines and water oaks on sloping lake lots, bottomland hardwoods along the Neches at River Park, and big shade trees in the older blocks along SH-31. Soft shoreline ground and steep grades mean we rig trees down and carry the wood rather than drive to the water. Chandler is a long run for us, so we group it with Berryville and Frankston jobs, and the price does not change.
