Tree Removal at the South End of the County in Wells, TX
Wells, Texas, is a town of about 850 people at the southern tip of Cherokee County, where US-69 meets Farm Road 1247, twenty-three miles south of Rusk and roughly thirty-eight road miles, or forty-five minutes, from our shop in Jacksonville. It began in 1885 as a stop on the Kansas and Gulf Short Line Railroad, and lumber has been its business ever since, alongside farming and cattle. Wells ISD, founded in 1921, serves the town. This is the deepest pine country we work: loblolly stands on every side, sawmill and timber traffic on US-69, and yard trees that are frequently mature pines left over from the original stand. Ice storms and pine beetle both take a toll here, and a dead eighty-foot pine beside a house is the call we get most. Wells is the far end of our route, so we group it with Alto and Rusk work and still show up with the same written estimate.
